The MPSC Combined Group B exam recruits for Non-Gazetted positions, including Police Sub Inspector (PSI). The selection process involves a Prelims exam, Mains exam, Physical Test, and Interview.

1. Preliminary Examination (Joint Objective Exam)

The preliminary stage is common for PSI, STI, and ASO posts. It acts as a screening test with the following pattern:

• Total Marks: 100 Marks | 100 MCQs | 1 Hour
• Syllabus: Current Affairs, History (with Maharashtra special focus), Geography (Maharashtra & India), Economy, Indian Polity, General Science, Aptitude & Reasoning.

2. Mains Examination (Descriptive / Objective)

PSI candidates must additionally prepare for the Physical Efficiency Test — start physical preparation early alongside academic study.

3. Physical Test Criteria (Mandatory Qualifying)

Candidates must meet the official physical measurements to qualify for the post of Police Sub Inspector. The physical efficiency test evaluates agility, endurance, and strength:

• Male Candidates Physical Standards:
  • Height: 165 cm (Minimum required)
  • Chest: 79 cm (Minimum unexpanded) + 5 cm expansion required
  • PET Marks: 100 Marks (Covers Pull-ups, running, long jump, and shot put)
• Female Candidates Physical Standards:
  • Height: 157 cm (Minimum required)
  • PET Marks: 100 Marks (Covers running, long jump, and shot put)
